Not gay. Just concerned.

India has taken a step back into the dark ages this week when the Supreme Court declared same sex relationship to be illegal yet again. This is an issue I feel very strongly about. I may not have any personal interest in the issue but I think LGBT rights is a topic related very strongy to the development of India.
India is known for its culture and heritage and many consider homosexuality as "unatural". These conservative people have to realise that the scriptures do not condemn homosexuality and in numerous temple carvings, homosexuality has been depicted.
Some celebrity marriages last for a matter of few months. Why should two people who have been faithful to eachother for years not be allowed to marry just because they are of the same sex? I'm not saying throw a huge wedding and call everyone in the street to party (If you would prefer that feel free) but atleast the oppertunity to make it legal for all to see.
Anothe thing that bugs me is that what business does the government have in what goes on in the private lives of two people in love?
What disappoints me is the backward mindset of the people. Meeting a gay person isn't gonna turn you gay. It is merely going to give you a perspective into an alternate lifestyle.

I really hope people open up their minds and something is done about this issue.

Update: Mobile phones as shields!

Remember how I told you about that group of people I've seen for ages but never spoken to? Okay, if you haven't refer to a previous post "Mobile phones as shields!".
Well I made friends with one of them on the last day of the festival and turns out a few other I actually know. So we had yet another festival this Saturday and one of the people in the hang insisted that I come and talk with them. I usually have a fear of groups. But, this time I worked up some courage and went and spoke. As it turns out, I have wonderful social skills. (:D) I had a wonderful time and honestly I haven't laughed so much in one evening! (Yay) The friend I spoke to insisted that I stay for dinner and who knew standing in a queue could be so much fun? I laughed so much that I became too nauseous to eat dinner! (That may have been the nervousness speaking too)
What I learnt was, that sometimes you just have to work up the courage and make your presence felt! It made me feel happy happy and more purple than blue! (:D)

I found this really funny website go ahead and  give it a peek: Click me!
Here's a sample:

Un-Vegetarian

Oh, I'm an un-vegetarian:
I love to eat real meat.
I'd rather eat a roasted lamb
Than stuff that's made of wheat.

I shape my beef as carrots,
Make chicken look like peas;
I flavor it to taste like them
To hide carnivorous needs

The blackhole of my life.

Do you get that feeling in your tummy that maybe you're making a mistake? I'm getting that one right now. What if I'm just messing up my future by sacrificing the things I like to do?
What if I was mean to be a dancer? Or artist? Or an actress? There are so many possibilities. I wonder if I'm making a mistake doing the mainstream stuff.
Few days ago I heard someone in class say "I should have taken Humanities". I happen to agree with that person. All this is just getting insanely overwhelming.
Now, I feel like I'm sinking in a deep, dark hole and there is no one to pull me out. I've forgotten how to have fun and I worry all the time.
How can they put so much pressure on us during our teenage years and expect us to turn out as normal adults?
Exams? Marks? School? College? I cant see what I'm working towards anymore.

Mobile phones as shields!

There is one thing which has always nagged me. I've never fit in any group.
I get that feeling of envy when I see a bunch of kids hanging around together and its not a nice thing to feel. I used to be part of a group back in the city I was born. I used to be that little kid everyone adored. Then, my father moved. Now, I just feel like I don't fit in. My parents kinda stopped socializing so I never formed that group. I envy people who have been friends from childhood. That is a very special bond to have.
We have this ten day festival going on. It happens every year. There are a bunch of kids I see every year. They know me by face but I haven't properly spoken to any of them and that makes me sad. There are so many people who I know I would have been good friends with but I don't get that little push I need to say "Hi" or "Hello". Like before when people were forced to smile at eachother? Nowadays we just hide behind our phones and various other gadgets.
Facebook. That's another story all together. There are SO many people you "fb know". There are the two types. You're friends on FB buy never met. Or incessantly stalked on FB and seen in person but never talked. I think technology reduces you're ability to talk to a person in person giving you the opportunity to hide behind a rectangular screen.
It is true that it open a lot of windows allowing you to make friends by overcoming distances. But, what about the door that close? You may know everything about the person sitting next to you in your class but when will they know about you?

Why can't we drink alcohol when we study them?

"It's been a really really messed up week
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter"

-Hot Chelle Rae (Tonight Tonight)

Welcome to 12th grade in my country. Where the its not your typical teen problems which conspire to make your life miserable but the freaking government. Yes, the government. The portions that we have in 12th grade is probably what my parents learn in COLLEGE. Are they trying to make us go nuts? Probably. ^_^ With the added pressure of being compared to your siblings, cousins, second cousins, neighbor, neighbor's siblings and so on, you can't really expect life to be simple. The portions we have honestly seems like gibberish to me with occasional moments of clarity. Sleeping in physics class? Check. Doodling in Chemistry? Check. Well that covers my major problems. You would think they could make Maths, English and Computer Science a LITTLE more interesting. But, NO. After all this they wonder why we are dying to get out of school. Peer pressure often stress us out unnecessarily. Though my parent still think I'mm chill and not that bother, I'm like a dormant volcano of fear. Beware those around me I'm gonna erupt soon. My favorite chemistry teacher quit this year and the despair I felt is inexpressible. She used to convert those undisciplined sentences and whip them into line. The only thing I was looking forward to (My Birthday) is three days before my birthday! Then again most people forget my birthday. Not the biggest social butterfly in school. Ahh I'm deviating. Lets get back to my drab boring life. After finishing this little post I hope to make an attempt of a certain topic called Alcohols (No wonder people resort to it.), Phenols and Ethers. Yay me! -_-

Being a teenager and other issues.

I find it so annoying when people assume we're going through a rebellious phase. "Oh your kid is picking fights? Must be a teenager!" Its just that during this phase we have lots of choices to make. Gently guiding us to the right path is different than tell us "No." It is denying us something that makes us more determined to get it. Let's take the case of alcohol. Most of the people of my age look at it as an exotic thing. My dad lets me drink. That doesn't make him a bad parent. His view is if we are denied something it becomes exotic and we aren't it loses its shine. For instance, now, I don't find drinking such a cool thing. Honestly, I think it tastes pretty bad. Our parents know us well too. When my dad talks about how he used to smoke as a teen he isn't worried that I wont smoke or do drugs because I'm aware of its harms.
Sometimes, parents tell us about the times they skipped classes to go for movies. They do so not to encourage us but to tell us in a way that it is normal, I guess. A reassurance that maybe a bit of mischief is required in life.
It is important to remember that every gift every slap they give us is for our own good. They've been through this as well and they try, even if they don't, to understand how we feel or what we're gong through. We teenagers appreciate being heard and not being clumped together under the label of "Teenager". All our problems are unique and treating them as a "Phase" is what hurts us the most.
Mischief is good in doses but in the end it is important to remember after we say "Mischief Managed" that we remember the responsibility that lies on our shoulder.

The Perfect Weekend

After my school held this huge cultural event last weekend I finally understood how much manpower, money and effort goes into holding an event which can be enjoyed by its participants. There is a certain pride which goes into wearing an organizer's badge and ordering those around you. You get to interact with various people. Some are nice and  cooperative, while, others are just pains in the back sides. You meet lots of wonderful people and sometimes you're left wondering whether you'll ever meet them again. Then there are those friends you see after ages (Lupine Writer included) and also those stalkers you've been avoiding. But, in the enthusiasm of arranging for judges for your event or making sure you have all the registration forms just right you forget all your worries and just end up enjoying. The joy of watching someone in your event succeed (trust me I know how hard it is to build a running robot or paint on a shirt which keeps rolling up) makes the pain in your legs worthwhile. If you're lucky some talented photographer would have captured your look of excitement or joy or the look of wonder as you watch an amazing performance of dance or singing. The food stalls are always something to look forward to. Especially when someone else is ready to pay for you. (:D) The added benefit of a stall where you can get your nails done for free just to remind you of the girly side. So whether you're watching Battle of the Bands or Adzap there is always something new to enjoy (unless its the millionth time someone is playing Boulevard of Broken Dreams). So as your voice goes hoarse cheering for the competitors of the Ultimate Venture there is always something to smile about remembering that all the winners get to take home a piece of your art in the form of their certificates. Finally, when all is said and done, all the pictures taken, cakes cut and organizers cheered on, there is that moment when you hear thunder and it starts to rain and you know that it has been a perfect weekend!

In areas of knowledge such as arts and science do we learn more from work that follows or work that breaks accepted conventions?

“Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently” is a quote often heard by us. In the rat race of life we are often asked to be different, to be noticed, to stand out!  But, is winning this race really that important? Can’t we have a nice relaxed life with our family or is it necessary to beat everybody to get to the top? Had Nicolaus Copernicus kept quiet about his theory that the Earth was not the centre of the universe would he have hit our history and science book and added a little more to the vast subjects? In India, most of the time, once a child is born the option provided is engineer or doctor.  Parents want you to have a safe career with regular employment, get married at the age which society thinks is appropriate and follow the social norms of life. What about those who wish to do something different? Often talent is suppressed, because, being different is not always appreciated. Wanting to grow up and become a farmer or an actor is unheard of! In the older times those whose thoughts differed from common cultural or traditional beliefs were branded heretics. But, now it has been proved what had seemed ridiculous in those times may actually be true!
Art is defined as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form or work produced using skill or imagination. While we can learn different skills and techniques while following others it is necessary to use our imagination to create something unique. Artwork can tell stories or depict ideas. It can be realistic or abstract. However, for some people, the most important issue in art is that it expresses or stirs emotions.  Art can be a record of what the artist is feeling and, at the same time, it can bring about emotional reactions in the viewer. Though making copies of artwork is a talent by itself, it is important to bring out our individual ideas to create something which displays our emotions, feeling or even part of our character!
Science is defined as the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Every human is a scientist. This also includes those who don’t study science as a part of their education or work. We are curious about many subjects. This curiosity leads us to research and experiment about our chosen topic. There is science everywhere is our lives. It is having the interest to find out more than what we are told that makes us scientists.  Being scientists we should never take what we are told for granted. We should have the thirst for knowledge. The thirst to know whether what we have been told is indeed true or whether the knowledge we have gained is incomplete. Though most us of us take what is told to us for granted, it is our research that makes gaining this knowledge more enjoyable!
Albert Einstein once said that art and science are the branches of the same tree. This is indeed true. Art educates people to be creative. A lack of creativity is a handicap for science. Science creates new patterns of thought. Resistance to new patterns is a handicap for art. It is only recently that these two have been separated, leading us to believe them as separate entities.
It is observed that great artists such as Da Vinci were great scientist as well. Da Vinci famous for the Mona Lisa also conceived ideas vastly ahead of his own time, conceptually inventing a helicopter, a tank, the use of concentrated solar power, a calculator and a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics. Major scientific revolutions have usually coincided with major artistic periods. Today science is evolution, not revolution, perhaps because it has been decoupled from the arts.
Changes in both subjects demand changes in our vision. It demands that we look beyond the known what we are aware of. It demands that we break convention. It demands that we explore not only the information around us but also the information we already know to find the connection which leads to discovery of new ideas.
Socrates was sentenced to death by drinking hemlock but for what? Encouraging young minds to ask questions and not accept what they are told.  The picture of Campbell’s soup can topped the list of top ten pieces of art while Mona Lisa didn’t make it to the top ten! Shocking? Well that just depends on your perception of art! Would you be able to relate more to the can of soup countless people eat from everyday or a mysterious lady smiling at you?
Had we not broken away from convention we would all be rather ordinary.  We are all taught the same thing in school. This information alters itself as we process it. By the time this information is presented during out examinations, everybody has added their own personal meaning to the piece of knowledge. Breaking away from convention allows us to make discoveries and interpret knowledge in our own way. In poetry, most of us interpret the colour blue as signs of depression or sadness. A student who sees things differently may not understand why he is taught that blue indicates a negative feeling when he relates blue to maybe bright blue skies! Thinking differently allows us to come up with new ideas and executing them. We don’t remember those who make our textbooks but we remember our favourite authors. Lines written by Roald Dahl or Charles Dickens speak to you. You are able to relate Miss Honey to the teachers who encourage you and there is a Scrooge in everybody’s Christmas! Our textbooks are not as appealing to us. We rather explore and find out things than just merely accept what is told to us by its pages.
What is being said is not that our textbooks are boring. It is an essential part of our life and provides us with a lot of knowledge we require. But, as we all follow convention and go to school do we really learn more than those who are homeschooled? Would you rather try to understand what our textbook says or go to a lab and find out yourself? When a teacher decides to take us out for a field trip to teach us a lesson, we remember much more! So next time you’re solving a problem, try and find a different method to solve it! You might just find a shortcut and teach your friends something new!
Hence, in conclusion we can say that while we cannot forgo the knowledge we have gained by following the accustomed conventions, it is necessary to question these convention and explore ideas which strike our interest to discover new things. We cannot disregard conventional directions to achieve a goal, but, it isn’t wrong to take a journey to find our own unique path to reach the destination. Sharing this journey with companions only makes our experience more enjoyable and in the process we test our skills, express our emotions and relieve our frustrations while discovering something new!

Clothes! Clothes! Clothes!

Like any teenage girl I have an obsession with clothes. No, I don't take FOREVER to choose clothes at a store. I just love to draw, wear, pair and appreciate pretty clothes! Just discovered this new website: Check it out!
Here are my top 5 favorites when it comes to dresses:

1) At number one we have: The Zebra Dress!

It looks so simple yet it is so cute! With a lace back and an understated monochrome colour, I could stare at it forever!

2) Coming in at second place is the ever classic: The Lace Dress!

You can never go wrong with this one. Ever elegant and gorgeous, a must have in every girl's closet!

3) At third place we have: The Floral Dress!

The evergreen floral dress! Popular through the ages and a cute, fun and flirty wear!

4) Taking fourth place we have: The Contrasting Dress!
Love the cute bow and the bright colours! The perfect daytime dress!

5) Last but not he least we have: Little Black Dress!

You can never go wrong with the LBD! Pair it with a cute clutch and you're good to go!

In a fashion obsessed world I'm just another spectator. The winds of style may keep changing but some clothes are just evergreen! We do see certain fashion disaster that make us cringe but to each her own! Now, I'm gonna go mope over the lack of a credit card and therefore the lack of ownership over any of the fabulous dresses!

Just Wanna Be A Woman

Bite me, scratch me
 Break me down.
 Invite me, court me
 Swing me around.
 Worship me
 Because I am the spirit
 I refuse to die,
Run with me I refuse to fall.
 My life, my soul
Sorry haters I do feel proud.
 Who are you tiny bloke
 To judge me.
 I judge myself,
Makes me proud of what I am.
 Shoo! You critic
 I couldn't care less
Like a star in a night sky
 I'll burn bright.
 You, lowly soul
 Can cower at the sight.
 My world, my reasons
 Run away,
This place was never meant for you.
 Just wanna be a woman.

Being a drifter and other random ideas.

You know when sometimes you see a sudden relevance to a song? That song currently for me is "Empty" by The Click Five. I just get this weird feeling that I don't fit in anywhere. I may surrounded by people but I still feel rather alone. Maybe, its because I miss my best friend (probably is that's why). I have some really good friends but no certain clique. I'd like to think of myself as a "drifter". A person can be a drifter if they are hard to get along with or they just don't get too attached to a bunch of people. I fall in the latter category. Its hard to be a drifter sometimes because you misunderstood to be an adapter (not the electrical gadget. Adapter: Someone who switches sides to the one holding maximum power). I as a drifter believe that I am just a person who adjust with the situation. I may sympathise about someone's situation but I hold my ground. Ever felt hurt and left out by people posting group pictures in which you aren't there? Either it was meant to be that way or you just haven't met your "gang" yet. I probably have a bunch of friends with whom I'll fit in with in the future. But, I'd rather be a drifter than someone desperately trying to fit in where they don't belong. Its better to wait and find the perfect pair of gloves than to compromise with ill-fitting ones.

I Want To Believe

Yesterday while watching 'X-files: I want to believe' my mom(On that note Happy Mothers Day!) told me I had been watching Mulder and Scully from before I was born. I've always enjoyed watching crime television shows and reading mysteries so maybe there is a connection? The onscreen chemistry shared by is undeniable and I have probably watched a gazillion romantic movies. So maybe there is a connection to me being a die hard romantic and a mystery lover? Have you ever wondered whether what you mom listened to or saw while you were in her tummy had any effect on your life? It has been proved that listening to classical music during pregnancies may make the baby a lover of the genre later on in their lives. So, I cant help but wonder, what the connection may be.

FRA-A-ACTURE!

After the miserable feeling of not being able to see your best friend for two weeks, I had an eventful day where I tripped over my dad's leg and fractured my left wrist. My first fracture! Though I would have preferred a cooler way of getting it, I don't mind giving people a good laugh. Keeping in mind the pain, I'm afraid post wont be very frequent or long for the next three week.

The defeat during the heat.

Hey everybody,

After a month of tension, I'm finally calm. I finished my Soporific Arduous Test, commonly called the SAT. (Soporific is somnolent/ slumberous, and arduous is austere/ onerous. Proof that I took the SAT.)

The test is balls. I'm serious. Because if a quiz is quizzical, then what is a Test? You get my flow?

Anyway, unless I do badly, I'm done with that.

Summer has just started for some people. It ends for me today. Will be sitting in a science research camp for the next one month starting tomorrow. While others are snoring away at 6 am, I'll be awake with only the prospect of another lecture beyond my understanding to greet me.

But one good thing to look forward to everyday is talking to the Blue Artist. She lives up to the title 'best friend.'

Still, I had a sadass day yesterday. Life sucks. Life's like a prostitute. It screws you. Plus, it's a whore.

Why was yesterday sadass, you ask? Oh you didn't? Too bad, it's my post. But don't worry, I'll keep the details. Basically, I found that I can't trust people no more. You can't trust anything ANYONE says.

How many moons does the earth have? Wrong. There are two. The second one is called Cruithne. See? Some bitch lied to you sometime telling you that we have only one moon. You can't trust anyone.

On that cheerful note, I bid you all farewell. Enjoy your summers (Grrr.) I'll see you after the summer. But then again, don't trust me. I might not.

Geography Rocks.

Hey everybody.

I'm awesome, and I'm proud to contribute to this blog. I love basketball and I really really suck. I like the colour orange and the Blue Artist just made me realize that its probably because basketballs are that colour. I also like to write. And you'll see that in subsequent posts.

This post is just a "Hey, It's me, I exist" kinda post. Keep following me for random shit.

Do you know what "lupine" means? Heard of Lupa the famous wolf from Roman mythology? The adjective lupine is derived into English from her name. The english word means 'off or relating to wolves.'

But when you spell it with a capital 'L' ("Lupine", roll the 'L' a little and let it slide seductively onto the 'pine'), the word describes the specific wolf, Lupa herself.

Lupa is renowned for training warriors. She was nice enough, but she wouldn't bullshit from no crying warrior babies (or real warriors for that matter). She stood for care and love. She stood for loyalty. She stood for intolerance to infidelity and weakness.

I really don't take bullshit from people.(That includes bullshit comments. You have something mean to say? Don't.) But I'm not caring or loving, and I'm weak as a toothpick. But I'm gonna call myself Lupine anyways, because it sounds seductive and because my real name is so awesome that mere mortals burn at the sight of it.

I also love writing. That's probably the only serious sentence in this post. I really do love writing. It helps you let out your creativity. Some people say it also helps you let out your anger. That's actually true because you're kinda punching away at the poor keyboard that's probably crying its ass off. It's probably peeing ASCII characters into its pants as you type. And you feel like this dominant creature. You have power over the feeble keyboard, pretty much the way life has power over you. It's nice to be in charge once in a while. So yeah, I love punching.

Speaking of life, I heard a saying once. Life is a like black man's left bum. It's not right, and it's not fair. Words of wisdom, I say.

Anyways, that's enough randomness for one night. Hope you guys didn't understand a thing I just said. If you did, there's something seriously wrong with you.

Eat lots of carrots.
The Lupine Writer.

To forgive or not to forgive?

Ever lost a friend due to a misunderstanding or a mistake? Well, I lost a whole group of them. Ever felt like someone is plotting you're downfall? Well, sometimes they are. The most important thing is to decide which is more important, your relationship with them or  your pride. No matter how hard the situation is, it can always be fixed. Running away from the problem only make it worse. You can run but you can't hide. It is important to admit the mistake (even if you did nothing wrong, be the bigger person) or forgive the wrongdoer (bad decisions are just a part of life) and make things right. You may not want to talk with the other person, but, it is important that you clear the air as soon as possible. Tomorrow is uncertain. You don't know when you'll see the person again or if you ever will. Always remember, to err is human, but, to forgive is divine.

The Pursuit of Happyness

There is nothing more fun than summer. Though my summer started off by hitting the books, I finally had a fun day. Hanging out on the terrace in the hot sun can have a few drawbacks! But, trust me tanning is totally worth the breeze and the fun you can have while hanging out on the 10th floor. The sun, the sea and the sky! Also, during the night, if you climb up on the tank, I can see the city light up as neon lights take over it. Summers are also the perfect time to catch up on your fitness. While most girls would say that football is a guy’s game, I completely disagree. While I’m definitely not the best player, I’m not the worst either. It seems such a weird thing to assign games gender wise. Why should it be considered weird for a buy to play with dolls? We all have our different choices and opinions and when you want to have fun do what makes you happy. If falling over the ball a couple of times and getting dirty makes me happy that’s exactly what I intend to do (I might even score a goal the next time?).

Phones and water are NOT friends.

One would think taking a bath and listening to music at the same time would be harmless right? Think again. When that awful splash of something falling into a bucket happened to be my phone, my day just took a turn towards hell. A silly old Nokia classic would have survived the fall and the swim. But, my Nokia Lumia 820 happens to be less water resistant. Wish me luck! Hopefully I'll survive to tell you more about this misfortune.

A girl's gotta dream, draw and adopt a Chinese kid!

While drawing, I need inspiration. I get that from a random picture on Facebook or even the gateway to IIT class (something I attend despite all my protests). Though there are many things I've tried to draw and failed, the drawings which pass are shown to the public. I have nothing against engineering, But, it just isn't what I've dreamt of doing. Every girl has that dream of finding the perfect guy and settling down. Somehow, I don't see myself in that dream as a software engineer or something like that. I'd would to love to settle in some foreign place (Tuscany maybe?) and adopt a Chinese kid! Unconventional, yes. But, why follow conventions if you can be happy otherwise?
I have always been a creative person. Creating things has always given me pleasure. Drawings, powerpoints, robots, relationships and even sandcastles! Now everywhere I look people are in such a hurry to get on with life, no once appreciates these creations anymore. Once, there was a time my dad used to look at my drawings and marvel at them. Lately, he's been marvelling how I have the time to do anything other than study. Does 12th really mean that I give up on everything else?
When I was much younger during an interview for admission at a school I justified colouring a turtle pink, silver and green by saying they were my favourite colours. The principal acknowledged my creativity and I was immediately granted admission. I don't expect deans and higher officials of colleges to hand us crayons and ask us to draw. But, how is it fair to hand out the tickets to our dreams on the basis of money, social power and caste?

What are you going to do next?

One would think the life of a 16 year-old girl should be easy, right? Well, that's where you're wrong! School, college, boys, friends, parents and hormones. It is not that easy my friend! I fought with my mom today. About what you may wonder. "What are you going to do next?" is a sentence which I hear a minimum of ten times everyday. Why do I always have to know what I'm going to do next? My parents ask me that to know what I'll study next. Its not like I'm going to run out of the house and take a train to nowhere, right? Well, physics, chemistry or mathematics. Not an easy decision to make. I'm in 12th standard. A "critical year" many strangers inform me. Before asking the obvious question. I don't understand what business they have asking what I'm going to do next. Now, coming to what I am going to do next. I was thinking  architecture, travel show host, model or maybe even a fashion designer! Though many may seem far fetched I believe I have the talent to do them! Sadly, the people who need to believe I can do it too don't. My mom and dad. Engineering seems like where I am headed folks. Why waste my talent? Only because some people can't imagine their daughter having the potential to achieve something great! Something extraordinary! Then again maybe, that's just what our society has led them to believe.
